Altec Lansing HydraTrek Rugged EVERYTHINGPROOF® Portable Bluetooth Speaker

I took this speaker along with me to the park to play frisbee golf. I like the size and portability and used the included carabiner to clip it to my hydration pack. This speaker can actually get pretty loud considering the size but I kept it at volumes where my friends and I could hear the music but still carry on a conversation without yelling. The sound is also pretty good for a speaker this size although there is a pretty sharp rolloff at both the low and high end frequencies. You are not going to get super hifi sound from this but you will get pleasant, easy to listen to and enjoyable listening sessions from this little unit. Connectivity is good and the controls at top are easy and intuitive to use. The battery easily lasted the three hours of our game and I still have battery life left. This speaker is durable and I wasn’t worried about it clipped to my hydration pack even when I dropped it on the ground. I do wish there were some sort of grill or guard for the rubber passive bass radiator on the back. One fun thing I did with this speaker is hold the passive radiator up to the outside of the big 55 gallon plastic garbage cans on the course. The garbage cans acted as bass cabinets and made the bass sound significantly deeper and louder!!! I am very happy with this speakers audio performance, low weight, portability, and ease of use.

I like to take speakers with me when I work outside so I got this. I liked that this is Altec Lansing. It has a magnet to mount it or use the clip or mount for a bike etc. I also like that it can be used around water so I can use it while hanging out in the pool or cleaning it. As for the sound, it is what I would expect from a tiny speaker. It does give of plenty of sound but no bass etc which is usual. The quality is great. It is very portable because of the size. For $20, it's great.

Wow what a great little Bluetooth speaker! Paired instantly with my phone. The video was taken at our lake with the speaker being in our outdoor cooking area. I’m sitting on the deck probably 20’ away from the speaker and the sound was very clear and plenty loud. I could have cranked it a little louder but you can over drive this little guy.Altec Lansing has been around a long long time so I was hoping this was going to be the Altec Lansing quality I remember and it did not disappoint. All of the features you expect with any Bluetooth speaker. I love that it’s waterproof as this will certainly be going out on the pontoon boat rides. Only disappointment is that the magnet does not attach itself to any aluminum rails in the pontoon. But they included a mount that will attach to the railings to overcome this issue. The magnet is quite strong and will hold firmly to steel. Just a great little compact Bluetooth speaker with great quality. A no brainer for $20!

For the price, size and sound you can't go wrong with this speaker. Seems durable and being water and dust proof is a big plus. The bass is surprisingly good for such a small speaker. Bluetooth connects fast and maintains connection. I paired two together for stereo sound. Recommended.

I have been an Altec Lansing fan for as long as I can remember. My first exposure to them was in the early 90's with this small 2.1 system on my computer. The main speakers were about the size of this portable speaker and they had a small "sub" that was about the size of a book -- but that system hit hard and everyone that ever sat in front of it was always blown away by how something so tiny could put out so much bass and amazing clarity from the two tiny speakers.My second Altec Lansing system was a 4.1 system, again same small main speakers (that surround you this time) and a larger shoebox sized sub -- again, nobody can understand how something so small puts out such amazing sound. I love that system and still use it to this day (18+ years later).I was happy to see this come up for review because I knew Altec Lansing would not let me down. I have a large number of Bluetooth speakers from some well known brands like Creative, JBL and Klipsch. The one most similar to this one is my JBL which is a tiny hockey puck. It has great range in everything except the low end. This is about two hockey pucks in size but wow, this really puts out 1) A ton of volume and 2) way more bass than you would ever expect. I should expected it as this is still on par with what Altec Lansing does in all the products I have ever gotten from them --- which is to deliver tons of clear well balanced volume audio with bass that is always surprising.I am way into audio, way more than I should be and have auditioned tons of Bluetooth speakers, own way more than I should admit. This Altec Lansing one is now my favorite mini. I am so happy that after all these years Altec Lansing still has it and didn't sell out.
